ya i got ucd ucsb too. i also got cal poly pomona and slo…the only prob is that none of these schools are “worth it” to my parents for me to live away from home…(UCD is COWTOWN!!! jk lol)

What about winter admissions? This is just out of curiosity, but how close do you have to be to the cutoff point to make it into winter? 15 pts seems really, really close to me.

dunno but only way you would have gotten admission for winter is if they said so on your letter…I dont think you can reapply or appeal for the winter semester. (read their FAQs page)

i think i’ll go to UCSB if i dont get into Cal… i probably wont. Does anyone know anyone who have been rejected to both SD and LA but still get into Berkeley? Oh well… UCSB sounds cool.

How is the GPA UCSD looks at calculated? Does it include freshman year? Does it only include the required A-G courses?

All UCs use the same system for calculating GPA.

Freshman year is not included, but considered mainly for completion of A-G courses.

Grades are taken from 10th-11th grade years, with an additional honors point given for up to 8 semesters (equivalent to 4 AP/honors classes) of UC-approved honors/AP/IB/etc. courses. A “D” or “F” in such classes receives no extra point.

Fell short by 348 points… I hate myself. 200 hours of community service and 0.048 higher GPA would’ve gotten me in. Instead of a 3.57, I needed a 3.618

I messed up really badly. Instead of taking AP Art, I took Spanish 3. I got a B in Spanish 3. I would’ve most likely gotten a B in AP Art too, which would be weighted. Great, great, great. Well, my appeal letter is already done, it’s not going to hurt me to send it. What are they going to do, reject me?

Heh. It’s painful to think I had a good shot and some slight laziness cost me the spot.

i just called them and they said i had an 8,060/7,483. i have no idea how, because i dont have a low family income, my parents went to college, i go to a good school, i didnt have a traumatic life event, and i live with both of my parents. it seems like that can either make it or break it for some people. (ps i got in).

dam im so mad i got a 7360/7480… if i would have got a higher gpa i would of got in dam… t.t

i was 150 points away from the cut off. i was so close!!!

man so insane…i heard that like for the UCSD appeal process theres this kid that missed it by 1 point and he has a brain tumor right now. Can’t lose with a brain tumor…in other words most of us are done for. missed it by 137

^ i know how you guys feel i missed by 120… if only my sat1 was a little bit higher t.t

but i think ill just go to uc davis

you wanna get in, tell them you are black, mexican, native american and poor…

they know im a mexican immigrant with a low income…ethnicity doesn’t matter

im poor and i dont think that matters …

if it turns out that i didn’t make the cut off point, can i still get in through the appeal process?

smartasien: are you a jr or sr? if you’re a sr, you should file an appeal asap. but no guaranteed chances, look: <a href=“Admissions | University of California”>Admissions | University of California;

ya i’ve already started. I’m not quite sure what to write though as i don’t really have any NEW compelling evidence. And i already had two teachers write letters of recommendation. Do i also need to send a resume or do i just send the letters?

actually being poor does matter
if your family gets lower than 60000 then you get 100 points
if your family makes lower than the poverty line for the number of members in your family then you get 300 points(I think, I may be wrong)

^ but just because im poor its not like that helps a whole lot…
i think sat1 and gpa counted the most
