You might want to toss it.
[FDA Investigates Multistate Outbreak of Salmonella Bredeney Infections Linked to Peanut Butter made by Sunland Inc.](http://www.fda.gov/Food/FoodSafety/CORENetwork/ucm320413.htm#recalled)

The major brands – Skippy, Jif – have not been implicated.

I’ve mostly bought Adams for 35 years, so I forget that there are still brands with transfats.
And you are correct that Adams, skippy& Jif aren’t on the list. But I’ve also bought store brands like Trader Joes & Whole foods which are, & snack packs like Justin’s.

Thanks for posting this ek4 - I’m not, but H and D are huge peanut butter fans so it’s nice to have reference to the above link. It was a blow to them to not be able to have their daily fix of TJ peanut butter with the flaxseeds.

D has so many food allergies/severe intolerances that she was relying on the TJ peanut butter on ricecakes. A lot of the other peanut butters such as Jif, Skippy have way too much sugar in them.

We eat Parker Farms, which had a listeria recall a couple of years ago. It took quite a while for us to go back to it… but it is the best tasting. Ironically, we also eat a lot of Trader Joe’s almond butter (crunch salted), but so far it is not on the recall list…

^^^Actually, Trader Joe’s almond butter with roasted flaxseeds, crunchy & salted, IS on the list. We are about 1/2 way through the jar with the matching UPC #. We are not sick. Does this mean it’s safe to continue to eat it?

http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm320647.htm

Why take chances of a few dollars worth of product?

If the UPC matches just bring the jar back to your TJ’s and they should give you your money back. Nothing wrong with a free half-jar of peanutbutter, even if it might be tainted with some salmonella. ;)

I only use Teddie Super Crunch. Try it, you’ll like it! :D

Trader Joe’s here, but not organic, so we’re in the clear.

Whew!

Trader Joes almond butter + flaxseed: I LOVE that one, but our TJ’s no longer sold those. Maybe this salmonella thing is why.

I’ve always used the Smucker’s - no sugar, reduced fat but recently tried Whole Foods own brand-really good. I recommend.

But I think if it does NOT have the flaxseeds (just crunchy & salted) it is not part of the recall. They seem to be listing each type separately.

We eat MaraNantha All Natural No-Stir peanut butter. It is wonderful.

intparent - as a safety precaution the manufacturer will recall x# of batches before and after the contaminated batch. I have had salmonella poisoning (2 bucket illness) and would toss out anything suspicious.
