I am an international student and have decided on attending one of these 2 schools. Knox is $5000 more expensive per year than goucher. I am undecided but will probably major in Computer science. Which one is better?
Goucher is less expensive, go to Goucher.
Is money a huge factor? What school do you personally like better?
Goucher by a long shot.
Goucher will give you more transportation access and more US travel options, which could be important if you’re an International. It’s close to many major US cities, cultural areas and museums.
Knox is nice, but it’s in a mostly remote, small mid-western area.
The student population at Goucher tends to be more diverse and their new president is very involved with with both the student body and the sustainable growth of the institution.
The students I have known who went to Knox were very happy. It is in a small city in the midwest, the winters will be very cold and snowy. Getting there is a bit of a challenge. Galesburg does not have an airport, but there are several trains each day to and from Chicago. http://www.amtrak.com/home
Happykid graduated from Towson University which is very close to Goucher. There were a few Goucher students in some of her classes. Goucher is in the northern suburbs of Baltimore on the east coast. The winters are definitely milder than in Galesburg! Even without a car, it is relatively easy to get to Goucher from the Baltimore airport by public transportation. http://mta.maryland.gov/
To be honest, the $5,000 you would save by attending Goucher could go a long way to help pay for other things that you’d like to do.
