Government job after studying oversea

can you still work for government after studing abroad? Is there any security issue when you applying state government job?

Yes, you can. Here are a few thoughts:

There is no issue with state government, or any federal job which does not require security clearance. And there are MANY federal government jobs that do not require security clearance.

Even federal jobs requiring security clearance are certainly feasible. D1 is abroad this semester, and has an internship next semester with a federal government agency that does require clearance. The main issue with studying aboard (or even if you have not studied abroad) is whether you have developed close ties to any foreign national (non-US citizen) or loyalty to another country that might interfere with your ability to act in the best interests of the US. Even then, if it is a friendly country, probably no issue. The clearance process has been a big hassle for D, but that has more to do with shipping documents around the world on short notice than anything else.

Don’t worry about it, go study abroad!

The longer you’re abroad, the longer the security clearance process will take. One or two semesters abroad may not be a big deal, but doing your whole undergrad degree abroad would seriously impact how long it would take you to get clearance (if it happens at all).
