I want to work in the government.

What are some good schools for majoring in public administration or public policy?

I would like it if the colleges were in PA, DE, MD, VA, NY, or MA.

DC schools are the best because they will put you in the heart of government, which will make it easier for internships and summer jobs.

Not that schools outside of DC don’t have good programs, because they certainly do, they just aren’t as convenient. It’s kinda like real estate - location, location, location.

I like George Washington University, Georgetown, American University, and UVA.

George Mason has some good programs and the University of Maryland is also good.

This topic has been discussed alot, go back and read some of the threads.

When it comes down to it, it doesn’t matter. If you are applying for federal government jobs they don’t care what school you went too, all it matters is that you meet the requirements of the position and can successfully make it through the hiring process.

For UVA, check out the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, [Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, U.Va.](http://batten.virginia.edu/)

You want to go to the best school you can get into and can afford to attend. It might not matter to the federal government what school you go to, but it will matter to you.
