Government & Law & Foreign Language

Government & Law & Foreign Language is one major. Can anyone provide a little information on it? For example…

Is it all breadth, little depth?

How does it compare to a double major in, say, French and International Affairs?

Would it be possible to double major in GLFL and something else? Psychology, perhaps?

Is it compatible with Study Abroad?

Thanks!

DougBetsy,

Here’s what Lafayette’s website has to say about the Gov/Law/Foreign Lang. major: [Government & Law and Foreign Language](http://www.lafayette.edu/admissions/majors/gov_law_languages.html).

I wouldn’t say that the program is “all breadth, little depth.” Students are choosing from the same pool of courses expected of “full-time” Gov/Law majors; the same can be said for the language of one’s choosing.

The program is quite similar to that of I.A./French. The main difference would be the inclusion of a few History and Econ & Business courses for I.A. majors.

Yes, it’s entirely possible to double major in Gov/Law/Foreign Lang. and some other major. A B.S. in Psych might be a bit of a stretch assuming four courses a semester, but the A.B. degree is certainly feasible.

All programs at Lafayette (even Engineering!) are compatible with a semester-abroad program of the student’s choosing. I can’t say this enough: studying abroad is an integral part of a Lafayette education.

Thanks, Justin.

I’ve seen that page on the website and it’s what got me thinking. I think when Son visits, he’ll request a meeting with someone in the department.

Cheers.
