I’m applying to the Pennsylvania Governor School of Health Care. A stipulation of the application is to identify a health related problem in the community and address it. We are expected to implement our plan during our senior year. I’ve been thinking of focusing on people who are uninsured, but this would be hard to implement. Any suggestions to possible proposals or any other essay ideas?

why are you asking here?

and why are you applying to the gov school of nursing?

Haha, I am applying to PGSE too!

Writing about the uninsured would have been a great essay, but there are lots of other more “implementable” ideas. Here are a few off the top of my head:

Increasing teen obesity rates (propose a change to caf food)

The spread of AIDS and not enough facilities/support for patients (start some kind of awareness drive to better inform the general public)

Biological warfare threats (make a tipsheet about the possible infectious diseases and how they can be identified; distribute them to your school, public places, and much of the general population)

Those are just a few of my ideas. I have 2 friends who are applying to Healthcare also. I think the app is due in February, right?

If so, you have plenty of time to write your essay. Hopefully this was of some help…have fun writing, best of luck, and let’s hope we both get in. :)
