Greetings.
Do BS/MD or medical programs factor in participation in Governor’s School summer programs or NCSSM summer ventures during the admissions process? Does one have better impression than other one? Thanks!
For BS/MD programs–not really. It would be noted in the application as an honor received, but it wouldn’t move the needle on getting an acceptance.
The most important factors for BS/MD are GPA, coursework taken (esp challenging science classes), ACT/SAT scores, community service with disadvantaged groups, and physician shadowing/clinical exposure. Consideration is also given for leadership roles held and advocacy activities.
For the traditional post college MD/DO programs, high school grades/activities/test scores are not considered at all.
