I have kinda of a dilemma. My GPA is around a 97 (Give or take a few hundreths of a point and with a challenging courseload), but my SAT I score was a 1940 and SAT II scores of 770, 740, and 660. Theoretically, my SAT should have been a 2100+ but it’s not really that close. I plan on applying ED to Cornell next year for physics and if that’s unsuccessful I plan on applying to 1) University of Illinois at Urbana 2)University of Rochester 3) SUNY Stony Brook 4)Ohio State University. What can I do in my applications (Though I think Cornell is the only significant reach) this fall to sort of balance out the low scores? Is GPA usually the more important stat? Does it help that a lot of kids from my school generally go to the schools that I’m applying (Including Cornell and University of Illinois being the exception)? Also, are there any other schools I should really be looking at for physics? And just for fun, I’ll post my EC’s: 1)NHS 2)Key Club (Is it bad that I never really logged my community service hours throughout high school?) 3) Masterminds 4) Model UN 5) Varsity Tennis 6)JV Cross-country 7) karate - black belt 8) band-trumpet

I dunno. I’d think colleges will assume that your HS is easy/they wiegh a lot if your SAT scores are low but your GPA is really high. A 1940 still isn’t bad, its pretty good actually. Solid chances.
