My step-son’s mom is getting ready to move to Spain next year and wants him to move there with her and go to college there for one year before returning to the states. I am really not so sure about all of this as he has never taken his SATS and his GPA is only 1.7
She says I have no clue what I am talking about and that she and her current husband can get him into any college no problem.
In all the research I have done, it seems he needs a much better GPA and taking the SATS would have been very beneficial as well.
Anyone have some help and guidance for me?

a 1.7 is around a c- average. percentage wise, thats a low 70. 70-73 out of 100. pretty terrible to say the least

To attend college in Spain almost certainly will require fluency in both spoken and written Spanish. Otherwise this student needs to find an American school with a campus in Spain. Not sure if any exist or where in Spain they are.

If he’s planning on doing a yearlong study abroad program from a university that is already attending, he would usually have to have a GPA of about 3.0, or maybe 2.7. If he planned to direct-enroll, it would depend on the school.

Perhaps a good place to start your research would be to find a school that has a program abroad, as cupcake recommended. If you choose to look for schools that are also program providers, a resource to find these schools in Spain can be found here:

One great school is the Centro Universitario Villanueva (CUV) in Madrid. You can see what past students have said about their experience here:
