My daughter has 3.1 GPA, and is a junior right now. she is taking 5 AP classes but I think she will get all B’s at the best , with a final GPA with 3.5 by the time of application, what are her chances of going to any of the Universities of California?

you should probably state whether she is in-state or not

also, anticipated SAT scores, if you have any idea, based on the PSAT

Are you a CA resident? I know there are experts in the UC calculated GPA around here. maybe you couldrepost in the College Admission or College Search and Selections and title it UC GPA question.

If you are not a CA resident, are you willing to pay the $50000 annual OOS tuition? There is plenty of time to live in CA after college.

To answer your question, in general, yes, your D has a chance of getting into one of the UCs w/ a GPA of 3.5. But keep in mind not all UCs are alike.

Calculate your UC admissions GPA as described here (this is from CSU, but it is the same calculation):
[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

A 3.5 UC admissions GPA will generally get into some UC as an in-state applicant, but is not that likely to gain admission to the most selective ones. You can check [University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu) and [University of California - Freshman class profiles](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/freshman/profiles/index.html) .

On the contrary, as an OOS, she would have a better chance to get in to a higher ranking UC’s because the budget problems…I guess the prescribed gpa is weighted, that make a lot of difference. What is the projected Unweighted GPA? Its hard to get into an upper UC with weighted 3.5. Of course, class ranking, the ranking of the HS, SAT/ACt scores and if she is applying for an impacted program do make a difference. In general an average 3.0 unweighted student is hard to reach the Upper Level UC or even SLO…

I am projecting my daughter’s weighted GPA at 3.5 and non-weighted to be around 3.1.

I am in California and my daughter’s path is to be a Biology major. Without prep her PSAT was 187 and I think that she can take SAT score up to 2200 with effort.

Does she stand a chance to go to UCSD, UCD, UCSB or UCR in Bio major? She has excellent extra curricular activities.

What are other private college options that feed into UC graduate programs?

Yes, she would. I would not count UCD and under being upper level UCs. But she would definitly be considered for those of your wishes. If she can get 2200 on SAT and GPA is only 3.1, she must have been to a higher ranking/impacted HS. In the Bay Area they are Lowes, Mission SJ, Lynch and MV, is she going to any of those or a private feeder school?

Thanks for your inputs.

You need to determine her “UC GPA”

What are you asking?

What is her goal with a bio degree?

On the contrary, as an OOS, she would have a better chance to get in to a higher ranking UC’s because the budget problems…

While the UCs like OOS students paying higher costs, the UCs do require higher GPAs from OOS students.
