Gpa on UC app

When you submit your gpa on the uc app, is that gpa going to be a finalized deciding factor?

I’m asking because I messed up one of my classes in spring, and I couldn’t take it in the summer because the grade didn’t update until all my classes were settled in the 2nd week of summer school.

And also, since I messed up that class I can no longer TAG. Is the TAG GPA updatable after december (filiing period sep1-30th)?

EDIT: Do grades update themselves after you submit uc app?

GPA is auto-calculated, and yes, it’s the finalized deciding factor, except for UCSB and UCSD, which allows you to use your after-fall GPA. Let’s say you submit your TAG to SD and have a GPA of 3.4 at the time of the submission. After Fall 2011, you get all A’s and raise it to 3.55. Your TAG is then valid. If, however, you fail to raise it to > 3.5, your TAG is denied and you lose your valuable chance of TAGging with a UC :)

You should have asked the professor and registered for it in the worst case scenario…

You have to do EVERYTHING. Do not click on the spring class and change an F into an A. Rather, add the class again into your current semester and write it as an A. They will understand when they read your TAG. And, only UCSB and UCSD allow this.

FYI, http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/files/ETS11_TAGMatrix_rev070111.pdf</a></p>

If I have a 3.0 right now, can I still tag into UCI, knowing that they require a 3.2?

Can they see my grades beyond fall 2011, or will they accept fall 2011 grades? (I know you mentioned only SB and SD, but just to make sure since I’m slow :{ )

Sorry pal, you cannot TAG to UCI :frowning:
Most TAG-able schools will send you a TAG confirmation in October or November, and they will not likely look into your fall grades anymore (Except for SB,SD and maybe Irvine, they ask you to not only have a 3.2 at the time of submission, but for “each subsequent term” as well). If you believe you can get your GPA into 3.2 after fall, then TAG with UCSB :D

hey sparkyboy. i have a question too.

if i submit my application for UCB in november, they still require you to update your grades and sumbit your fall grades once they are posted right? And then your GPA that they make their decision from includes fall semester grades as well?

if so, does this apply for winter session as well? i mean if you take classes in the winter can those also be included for your application and go into your GPA ?

Yup, your fall grades are super important - they require you to update your app in January with your fall grades. The combined GPA will then be a decision factor.

For winter session, I don’t think they will count it… unless the session ends in early January something. You should try asking those transferred this fall. I am applying this November as well :D
