GPA question...

So grades are obviously just one piece of the puzzle, albeit a large one, but consider this question everything else aside…

There’s a hypothetical student. Freshman and sophomore years, this student gets a 4.00 weighted (staight B+s in honors classes. Junior year, though, he takes 6 APs and gets 2 As and 4 A+s (4.84)…
How does the admissions board look at this student? Are his grades strong enough even though his cum is a 4.27?

I do not think this GPA pattern will at all be a problem. Certainly taking 6 AP courses as a junior shows a student who takes a most challenging schedule and does well. Provided there are sufficient EC’s to show that this hypothetical student didn’t need to study six hours a day to maintain these grades, he/she should be fine (albeit competitive in a pool where most are rejected).
