at what gpa should people not consider transferring and instead wait until the next year? below a 3.0? or below a 3.5? etc. also do schools recalculate GPAs with only the courses they accept for credit?

Well, it depends on the school. If you’re trying to get into the Ivy League, having below a 3.5 probably won’t be good. If you’re trying to transfer to a run - of - the mill state school, then a 3.0 (or less) might very well be acceptable.

I could be wrong on this, but I don’t think schools recalculate the GPA for only courses they accept for credit because I don’t think most schools even do a credit evaluation until after they’ve admitted you.

if your applying to UC’s, a 3.0 will get you into santa cruz, santa barbara, most likely davis, and irvine…

Yes UC’s recalculate your gpa with only the classes that transfer

This is off subject but I thought you might be able to help. My daughter has a 3.5 GPA with many AP classes at a very competitive HS. She has a 1300 SAT. Do you think she will be offered any merit aid from Hendrix? Its been a month since she was accepted.

tncpauld–and riverside and merced.

she will definitely get a scholarship…her SAT scores alone merit her money and her GPA will also help. I don’t doubt that your daughter will get a generous package

they usually send the financial work/scholarship letters after the acceptance so if you dont get anything soon, call them.

Valuable

Thankyou so much for the reassurance. Any other insights into the process?
