GPA reset

I heard that when you get to yer uni you start out with a 4.0
Is this true or do yer grades get converted to a quarter system.

Your GPA will get reseted, and you will start out with a 0.0 xD

Read this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/390953-uc-transfer-faq.html

yeah clean slate…4.0 or 0.0 depending on how u look at it

this is true and your units get converted if you are going from semester-quarter/quarter-semester…grad schools will want to see all of your transcripts though in the future if you plan to apply.

I imagine you as a pirate…

But to answer your question, I believe you start with a blank slate for the University (not a 4.0, but basically a 0.0, as you have no grades to average out.)

Also, units are converted from semester to quarter, not actual grades.

you also want to remember that if you are on a pre-professional track (law, med, dental, vet, actuary, etc.) it won’t matter because they want to see your cc grades as well…i’m not sure what the grad schools require, but what sandaboy says sounds right

have a good night :)

Yaa’r,
I’m doing ROTC, so thats four years of ‘work experience’ after college. Will they still look at my CC grades

matey?

I thought about doing ROTC at the place where I transfer. What ROTC are you in?

I was in AFJROTC in high school.

The only problem I see is I never took SATs, ACT or whatever. I guess I would have to take it before I apply to their scholarships.

Army. I don’t think you need those if yer a transfer student.
The main thing is to call them yesterday and ask them to reserve a spot for you at leadership training course. thats where they determine if ye worthy of a scholarship

Thanks man.

If I decide to do it, I can’t decide between AF, Navy, and Army. I definitely know I want to skills/training that will help me for the work force or graduate school. Something that is applicable and requires intellect.

Somewhat true. But if you go to grad school, your CC grades will also be required (they won’t be weighed as heavily, but the grad school will still require them)

thebigsh0w- bro go Air Force.

K sis lol.

You keep your GPA if you’re a UC to UC transfer

I was in Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary) for years. It was fun, but I am ovvvvvver that haha.

bro-no im serious, my fathers side of the family is all military and since i am a hippie i wasnt gonna join them.

in middle school my father tried to persuade me and if i believed in that sort of thing…the air force is def. cool

at least the flying part.

Well, I am sure my CC grades wont hinder me. And if they do, so be it.

Air Force is alright, but I don’t really want to be “chair force.”

My cousin is an officer in the Army and is getting a free master’s degree at MIT. He told me he picked the army because it has the most career options. He is pretty smart too. I guess I rather do the army instead of being in the Air Force doing nothing. Not sure though.

The overwhelming majority of Airmen never leave the ground.

i wouldnt know about them not leaving the ground. my fathers family is all marine, army, navy seal and crap…i would have been an airwoman so i would have demanded to be in the sky. or else.

where did you heat that your CC grades don’t transfer over? that doesn’t seem to make sense.
