GPA Weighting Question

My high school caps our weighted gpas for valedictorian reasons, so the highest you can get is a 4.32. Without this cap, I would have a much higher gpa, so I was wondering if, when I apply to college, they will calculate my real weighted gpa or go with my school’s capped gpa…? Does anyone know?

Thanks!!

Usually colleges recalculate GPAs using their own standards

Many colleges cap the recalculated GPAs too. Some UCs have officially admitted it.

Thanks a lot. I don’t really care if the college caps it, so long as my high school’s cap doesn’t put me at a disadvantage

Your counselor sends in a School profile along with your transcripts that will explain the cap to your colleges.

oh no def dont worry, they put it in their own gpa system cuz so many schools have different systems
