GPA with only 10 courses

Will law schools take a competitive GPA seriously if it is only weighted from 10 courses? I have the option of graduating college in two years, and because my GPA is competitive now, is it worth it trying to apply to HYS? If they don’t accept me, I can pursue a double major at my current school and reapply the next year.

It will hurt you, on a couple levels:

a) 10 courses isn’t enough for a school to evaluate you as well as they can evaluate someone with 30-40 courses

b) if you are a traditionally-aged student, you will have missed out on several years of life/work experience. Admissions might be less likely to take a chance on you, and if they do you could still find it hard to interact with the other students (most of whom would be at least in their mid-20s) and to find a job. This one is seriously mitigated if you’re a non-traditionally aged student, especially if you have work experience in a field relating to the kind of law you want to practice.

If you do graduate early, I’d take at least a year off to do something else (work, volunteer program, whatever) before applying.
