I’m currently in 8th grade, and am slightly worried about my future high school class ranking.
My 9th grade schedule will be:
AP Calc BC
AP Chem
Honors L.A.
Japanese
AP USH or Euro
Fundamentals of Programming (No idea if this is considered honors)
6th period varsity baseball

So this would put my GPA at either 4.57 or 4.7, which at Troy High would probably rank me anywhere from 15-20. Is there anyway to raise this?

Yea, don’t play baseball. Think about it, does anyone at Harvard besides the baseball team play baseball? no. It’s that simple really, don’t play baseball = get in to Harvard. Your welcome.

As a senior, I can tell you that piling up on so many AP’s so early in your high school life might actually have an adverse effect. You’re taking some of the most difficult AP classes ever devised. Calc BC, at least my school, was 1000x harder than the material covered on the actual AP exam since our teacher (math team coach) gave out hard tests. I self- studied AP chem but I’ve heard that most schools in our area purposely make it into a hard class to get an A in. Most APUSH courses involve a great deal of readings so it’s going to take up a huge chunk of your study time.

I think you should cut back on the AP’s for your first year. Maybe you are extremely advanced in math so Calc BC makes sense. I would take an honors science class as well as a regular history class, because it takes at least a year for most middle schoolers to transition to the pace of high school life. Of course, you can always stack up on AP’s your sophomore and junior yr.

I’m not hating, I’m being serious. That kind of schedule at my school is unheard of for a freshman. I mean, I’ll have a similar schedule next year, as a junior. And at my school, the highest ranked sophomore has a GPA of 4.22

Are the majority of the people at your school taking AP BC Calculus next year? Also, how many people in your middle school go to Troy high school to take high school classes(in middle school)?
