My gpa freshman year was a 3.3, sophomore year it went down to a 3.1. I then transferred high schools and got a 4.0 my junior year. Cumulatively, it averages out to a 3.5. My dream school is NYU. My SATs are a bit lower than the average and obviously my freshman and sophomore year hurt me.
If I apply early decision (meaning if I’m accepted I’m agreeing to attend and cancel all other applications) do you think I have a chance? I don’t need financial aid either.
is this the weighted gpa? also what was the sat and some extra curriculars
yes, and 1780. I play soccer year round, lacrosse, have a part time job, involved in art club, and take Chinese tutoring lessons outside of school. I do community service trips with rustic pathways and have a lot of hours from those trips.
Hey, I just made an account to say that there is hope!! My grades looked exactly like yours (did poorly, averaged B’s in Sophomore and Freshman year -> 4.0 in Junior year) and I’m now a freshman at NYU.
I also had a 4.0 in senior year so keep up your grades! Work on your essay as well. I really suggest trying for one more SAT, maybe even an ACT because I had a relatively high ACT score (33). Other than that, our extracurriculars are pretty much the same.
Astorlyrock - what school at NYU are you a freshman at? Wondering if acceptance chances are better at different schools. Thanks
Hi astorlyrock, I’d also like to know what school you’re at. I did pretty mediocre freshman and sophomore year but got mixed A’s and B’s junior year and mostly A’s so far this year (I go to private school btw) and I’m applying ED to LSP. I have a 30 ACT and I’m taking it again this weekend. Do you think I have a chance?
