<p>Cheers to Ms. Hopper who would have been 107 today. Lol I used to write paragraphs in COBOL, which I’d bet not too many of us use anymore.</p>
<p>When I read about her, I wondered (a) why more women still aren’t in the STEM fields and (b) how she was able to succeed when just about everything in society should have discouraged her.</p>
<p>Another old COBOL person here. I think I actually got to meet her at a conference in the mid-80s. (does that make sense?)</p>
<p>Makes sense 1214mom. I met her very informally - her home was at Pentagon City at the same building as my physician, and I got to chat with her in the lobby of the building when we met by accident:-).</p>
