Grad center question

I’m living in a grad center suite this year and I had a couple of questions. Are the bathrooms cleaned for us, or will we be responsible for cleaning it and buying things like toilet paper? I found the following on the reslife site, but I’m still not entirely sure:

"Routine cleaning and maintenance of the common areas in the residence halls are accomplished by Brown Facilities Management, custodial services. This includes: trash and recycle removal, cleaning of the common areas (i.e., hallways, lounges, kitchens, stairs) and cleaning of the common bathrooms (i.e., cleaning, disinfecting, and toilet paper provision). Custodial Services will not enter nor clean students’ rooms, suites, or apartments.

In on-campus suites/apartments (i.e., Barbour Hall apartments, Gregorian Quad, Wriston Quad 4th floor suites, Young Orchard apartments), students are responsible for cleaning all areas including bathrooms, kitchens and/or living rooms inside the suite/apartment."

Also, is Grad center open between new years and the beginning of spring semester? I was thinking of going home for christmas and then working or getting a job in January. Here is what I found online:

"All residence halls, except the Graduate Center and Miller Hall, are closed for the Winter Recess.

Should international residence require a student to live on campus during winter break, the student should contact the Office of Residential Life as early as possible in fall semester."

It seems to imply that I could stay in the dorm for free over the winter break, but I wanted to be sure.

You have to clean your own bathrooms in Grad Center. However, I’m pretty sure they supply toilet paper in a cupboard in the basement. Your CAs will give you more information.

Grad Center is indeed open over winter break. If you live there, your card remains activated over break and you can swipe in/live/sleep there whenever you want. I’m pretty sure you only have to talk to ResLife if you DON’T live in Grad Center and want to stay there over break, but you can just check with them at some point in the fall. They won’t rent your room out to someone without your permission, obviously. And it’s completely free.

(Students who want to be on campus over break but do not live in Grad Center or Miller need to find someone who will let them borrow their room.)

ugh my brother’s bathroom was absolutely HORRID in C. I lived in Keeney and would rather go to the bathroom there…

swim2daend:

In grad center? Probably means that he didn’t clean it. The trick is to make some sort of deal about who cleans the bathroom when at the beginning of the semester and stick to it.

Thanks for all the replies! I’m guessing that my suite will come up with some sort of cleaning schedule for the bathroom, and we’ll split costs on cleaning supplies at the beginning of the semester. And I’m glad I can stay there free over winter break, I’m planning on taking advantage of that.
