Grad gifts for acquaintances

S1 is about to graduate high school and the invitations are pouring in. We have a couple of parties for close family friends where our whole family is invited-I’m good there on what to do. Then there is a combined birthday/grad party he has been invited to-good there as well. But, what do you do when the whole family is invited and the graduate/hosts aren’t close friends, they are just acquaintances and classmates? Do you take a grad gift? Just a hostess gift? This is kinda weird and down here, cash is king for graduation gifts! Any advice would be appreciated.

Money/ gift cards.
If the whole family is invited, especially if you dont know them well, I would be sure to take a nice gift.
Probably I would bring a hostess gift ( treats/ flowers) as well as a gift for the graduate.

My DS got invited to several friend’s graduation parties (he didn’t want one of his own). I would send a card with a check for $20.13 (well his was two years ago so it was 20.11). It was not a large amount, and still showed you were thinking about them, and celebrated the graduation year all at the same time.

We only brought gifts for grad. We just had a similar party for our son for another celebration–we got just a few hostess gifts, but mostly gifts for our son, which was fine and I didn’t think twice about it.

Great, thanks! I love the idea of making the checks out for 20.13 too!
