Grad school admission with General Science Undergrad

Will a General Science degree hurt my chances at getting into a good grad program of a more specific science (Genetics, Biochemistry, etc.)? I would like to have a very broad knowledge of all sciences before specializing in one field, but I don’t want to hurt my chances at getting into grad school.

I’m a returning student at Penn State and the degree I’m looking at is Science (SC BS) science.psu.edu/sciencebs

It will depend entirely on the courses you take, and what research you do during your undergraduate. If you go too broad, you won’t have the higher level course prerequisites. Your research will need to be focused in the area that you are trying to go to grad school in. Your “specialization” will need to start no later then your junior year.
