Does anyone know how competitive elementary education programs are? I recently made the switch from applying to PA schools to grad schools for education, and don’t have a clue about what to expect in terms of admission. I majored in Biology and did copious amount of extracurricular related to science and medicine so I am literally jumping into a foreign field. I haven’t had much luck with finding posts about elementary education admissions, so I assume it is not too competitive?
What’s your GPA like?
2.9
It totally depends. Your regional public university is bound to be less competitive than Penn or Harvard or Columbia. However, for elementary education you really should probably be applying to your regional or flagship public vs. one of those other schools, unless you have a lot of money (or want to teach at an elite private school).
Education program often have stricter entry requirements than other programs because of their accreditation requirements so they can grant eligibility for licensure and certification, so check the website.
