Nephew is graduating with his MBA from top B school with a big big job awaiting, a great thing in this economy!! He worked for several years accumulating more than enough to see him through financially. He’s getting married this winter across the country which we will attend. Financially, he probably has more in the bank than we do, so our usual gift to a new grad ($) seems inadequate and we can chose something from the registry when he marries.
Any suggestions?

If you’d like to acknowledge his MBA with a gift, I suggest giving him something he can keep. I’m thinking of cuff-links, a picture frame, an accessory for his home bar such as a nice cocktail shaker (perhaps engraved with initials), a coffee table book on a topic of interest to him, a momento from his grad school—some schools sell photographs of memorable views around the campus, a gift certificate for framing his new diploma… Men aren’t easy! A sincere note recognizing his accomplishment would obviously be appreciated, as well.

I nice pen is always a good gift for a guy that will actual get used. Whether he keeps it in his pocket for everyday use, or on his desk at work or when paying bills at home, he will always remember who gave it to him. One of my friends collects pens and even has a case to display them. He switches out his everyday pen every so often, but uses them all. My son and husband also carry a pen daily and both use one given to them as a gift.

For grad school I have given desk clocks with degree and date of grad engraved on clock or plate that is attached to clock. I figure they can use it at home or the office. There is a wide variety of styles and prices for this item (from about $35.00 to $1,000+) but some very nice ones are under $100 from Bulova and similar companies.

I used to get them at Forturnoff…not sure where I’ll go for them now!
