SAT- PRACTICE ESSAY-1
Essay prompt : Sometimes it is necessary to change what people in authority claim to be true. Although some respect for authority is, no doubt, necessary in order for any group or organization to function, questioning the people in charge- even if they are experts or leaders in their fields- make us better thinkers. It forces all concerned to defend old ideas and decisions and to consider new ones. Sometimes it can even correct old errors in thought and put an end to wrong actions.

Sometimes it is necessary to challenge what people in authority claim to be true. It is very important to question the ideas and decisions of people in position of authority. Precedents, in any aspect, have left the followers with concern or on ways to improve or to learn. Throught history there has been many precedents that had its successor change or tweak it. Examples like the Boston Tea Party, companies and everyday scientists. It is normal to wonder, the examples set on the past can be changes for the better or the authority can be questioned for it's actions.
Boston Tea Party is a fine example for this situation. The British needed money, and they saw it was a great idea to agrandize the amount taxed for tea. They increased the tea tax and it angered the colonist of the New World. The people questioned the kind and demanded a convincing answer. They never received it. Therefore they had no other choice but to take action. The Colonist dressed as Native Americans raided the Boston harbor and dumped tons of tea in to the ocean. They were not adaptive to the new rule of British so they took action and their voices were heard. It isn't a mistake to question authority, they could make wrong decisions and it should be questioned. Precedents are meant to be changed.
Previous Products are to be changed in the future. For example, Companies. There are thousands of companies out in the world that creates millions of products. All of the created products were improved. Like the iphones, it has a lot of precedents, but the company always managed to make the next model. Not just the iphones, there so many more like clothing and shoe making companies. They look at the previous products and they will check all aspects to improve and take to the next step. Hundreds of companies thrive on their improvement and questioning from the past. Question is key.
Scientists live on unanswered questions. There are, obviously, so many discoveries and inventions since the beginning of time. Discoveries completed and recorded are taken by many scientists and every characteristic and feature and data is questioned for more answer and information. Science is full of theories that need to be answered and the investigative scientists who question the Experiment are helping the future generation by providing knowledge and more questions to ask.
To sum up, questioning authority and precedents is very important because it might be a down right harmful idea, it improves the next big thing and it provides new knowledge and questions. Even if someone is an experts everyone should question because it makes us better thinkers. The arguments and doubts will force all concerned to defend old decisions and to consider new ones. They can also put ends to wrong actions.
