Grade my essay please?

Is quitting a good idea?

I know this essay is dung but it’s not like I can correct it now.

Sometimes quitting is a good idea. The reasons for quitting can be justified but some reasons can’t. It depends on the person and the situation. In order to show the reasons why or why not quitting is a good idea, I will be using examples from my own life and examples from the book, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.

In ninth grade, I took all honors courses for the first time along with a major sport, Track. Track was diminishing my time for my classes because I came home late with no idea how to keep up or manage my time. Not only was a combination of Track and HW keeping me until early morning, but I was unhappy with school and genuinely didn’t enjoy running. Although I put my best effort in both school and sports, I wouldn’t drop an honors class or Track because I’ve never quit before and I wasn’t going to start then. I held strong pride in my capability and refused to look weak by quitting something, so I stuck with Track, even as it lowered my grades. I now regret not quitting because the outcome wasn’t worth it.

In contrast, I took what would later be the hardest course of my life, Honors Pre Calc. Honors Pre Calc was very difficult for me and I perceived myself to be very good in math. So when I got barely over a passing grade for the first quarter, I was stumped. After all the blood, sweat , and tears I put in, I couldn’t believe I got something so low. After seriously discussing with my counselor about dropping the class, I decided to give it a few more weeks. After I stuck with it and worked even harder than before, I ended with eight percentage points higher than before. Although I didn’t get the grade I initially intended, it was my first real experience with a college course and it taught me something about hard work and commitment. I know I will use what I have learned in this class in the near future so not quitting in this case was a good idea.

In the last case to show that quitting is a good idea, I will use the main character, Cas, from the book, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Cas comes from a poor but big family. He was a high school student who struggled to help support his family after his dad left. He had to choose between getting an education or supporting his family. In this case, he had to quit school and found a found. Was quitting school a good idea? Well Cas fell behind in class and graduated in a different year than his original classmates, but his family was safe and healthy. So in conclusion, whether quitting is a good idea depends on the person and situation, as the outcomes can go either way.

“SOMETIMES quitting is a good idea. The reasons for quitting can be justified BUT SOME reasons CAN’T”

First all ditch the contractions and say cannot.
Second and more importantly your message is wishy-washy.

“Quitting is a great idea. Any fool can rush into battle but it takes a true tactical to retreat and regroup. As two halves of the same coin, quitting and continuing at equally valid stances…”

Third this is not a personal statement so you do not need to focus so much on revealing information about you.

Fourth too boring.

This essay is too generic. The opening sentence itself puts me to sleep. Start with some sensory imagery or other captivating visual.

Bang bang.
