It's important to question the ideas and decisions of people in position of authority depending on the situation. The situation that is going on nowadays that discusses about the racial discrimination of African-Americans in the police system. Protests and riots rose from the killings of innocent black people by the authority. Although situations that dealing with parents looking out for the safety of their children, should not be questionable.
A few years ago, an African-American teenage boy,Trayvon Martin went to 7/11 store to by a drink and skittles. He was on the phone with a friend telling her that he noticed a Caucasian cop following him. This cop noticed his hood up and his hands in his pockets, and suggested he looked incriminating. Martin was confronted by the police, and the officer ended up shooting the teenage boy. The officer claimed that Martin was armed, but further investigation revealed that his intentions were incorrect. Riots, chaos, and protests rose after people heard this story in the media. People questioning the actions of this officer. More stories came out, when a cop was aggressively arresting a father with a chokehold and handcuffs. The man told the officers that he could not breathe, and he ended up passing away because of it. Both situations led to question the police by people watching the news in horror. It's important to take a stand and not let these situations become a reoccurrence. The questioning and people speaking up will lead to a change in society. "It takes one person to make a change."

Other situations like when a parent is explaining to their child that they can’t have that much sugar intake in their diet or go out after a certain time, is for the safety of the child. For example, the movie, “Taken,” the actor, Liam Neeson’s character didn’t think it was appropriate for his seventeen year old daughter to explore Europe following a rock-band around tour with her friend. She ends up kidnapped because she shared a cab with a stranger. Her and her friend ended up being trafficked in Europe. Children need to consider parent’s intentions in the decisions they make for a child. At the end of the day, it comes from a good place. Parents don’t want children to have health problems in the future from all that sugar such as diabetes and they don’t want someone harming their children when their past curfew. Parents want the best for their kids.
All in all, it’s important to take a stand and want a change that will benefit people, to an extent. The situation should be evaluated to see if someone is being harmed than good. If the case is harmed, as people we should take a stand, no matter how higher the rank the opponent is. If the judgement by the authority is good, then the person needs to accept the fact that something good is coming out of it since authorities have better experience knowledge than subordinate.
