Grade My essay, Thanks for the sincere help

Question: Are we free to make our own decisions or are we limited in the choices we make?

People are always limited in the choices they make due to certain constraints and limitations. Therefore in a practical sense, no one is completely free to make decisions. This idea is illustrated in various personal and political examples.

As demonstrated by robotics competitions, there are always limitations to decisions. In the Botball robotics competitions, teams are given certain rules, guidelines, and parameters that dictate how a robot is created. The teams must adhere to these regulations or else their robot will be disqualified in the tournament. The limitations range from the amount of parts that can be used to the areas in which the robot is only allowed. In these tournaments teams must make decisions that follow the rules and limitations. Thus, it is apparent that in robotics competitions, decisions made by teams are limited by various rules, proving that decisions are not made without constraint.

Like, robotics competitions, the Obama administration reveals the limitations on decisions. The Obama administration’s agenda is clear. It wants to increase taxes on the rich Americans while also providing for the indigent and the unemployed. However, the Republican majority in the House of Representations would not allow this agenda to be passed completely. A compromise, thus, was established between the Republicans and the Obama administration. The unemployment benefits would persist; however, the Bush Tax Cuts would continue, meaning that the rich would be taxed lower, not higher as the Obama administration would like. The Obama administration had to accept this compromise because otherwise unemployment benefits could have been discontinued. The limiting factor in this case, preventing the administration from making a “free” decision was the majority in the House. Therefore, it is evident though this compromise that decisions are limited by various factors.

The analysis of robotics competitions and the Obama administration’s compromise reveal that decisions are indeed not made freely. Instead, they are limited by certain factors such as rules and opposing political bodies.

Grade my essay from 0-12. Thanks for your help and consideration, I appreciate it.

probably an 8

^I think it merits a 10, but thanks anyway. Any more opinions??

It would have been nice to have a third example and more diverse examples. Both your examples are kinda personal experience/current event examples. A historic or literary example would have been really good.

8 seems low for this essay. Id say more like 9 or 10 if lucky.

i agree. 8 is about right

along with more diverse examples, i think a more expanded intro/conclu would also help

I think it would’ve been an 9/10, but the examples could have been better
