grade trend - ccc to uc

do uc’s care about grade trends? i took 14 units and 13 my first two quarter respectively, and now i’m attempting 22. will this have ANY role in my decision process or does it not matter?

They definately do. I am not sure if the amount of units matters as much as grade improvement though.

whoops i didn’t mean grade trends. i meant the unit load.

ucla rep told me it doesn’t.

Yeah I don’t think unit load matters. It is just the grade trend that is important.

But…Would they consider that I took alot of units in one year that would take usually 2 years to complete? I will have at least 50 semester units completed in the one year I’ve been at a CCC, not including APs.

I asked my counselor about the significance of unit load at UC’s. He said they don’t matter, but when it comes to private schools, like USC, they do take unit load into consideration.

mine has gone up every semester so I hope they do

Unit load can never hurt you, but I think anyone would be impressed by a 30 unit semester or something.

so hypothetically i can take 8 units a quarter and focus super hard on em and get A’s and do this until i reach 90 units and then apply right?

yes.
I heard from my friend that a guy spent 7 years in CC in order to get A’s for all his classes. My friend said he ended up in UCB or UCD.

Classes taken more than 5 years before transfer will not be considered by UC’s.

oh, really? I should tell my lab partner. He has spend over 4 years in cc, and he’s not transferring this fall. He takes 2 classes per semester only, and he said he wanna go to med school

haha he can still transfer but he will have to retake any old classes. The UCB counselor told me they specifically through out applications like that though…
