I was just wondering about the Graded Writing Sample. For context, the graded writing sample I’m encouraged to submit from my current grade is (in simple words) not the best I’ve written. It has grammar errors because it was a handwritten essay in-class and I was rushing. Apart from that, there’s a lot of repetition and redundancy in the essay. The writing style is also unclear and fails to convey the point well.
I have a couple of other writings from seventh grade but they also happen to be very political and candidates are discouraged from submitting an essay outside of their current grade. The only thing I have for the seventh grade essay is a screenshot of my grade, no comments.
I was wondering for advice in submitting my seventh grade piece, or a questionable eigh-grade piece
Can you fix the misspellings? Also, it would be helpful when you submit your essay if you provided a brief context surrounding the assignment of the essay. Then they will understand this was a first draft completed in 30 minutes (or whatever the allowance was). In such a situation, one would not expect it to be perfect.
Do not do this!! It’s supposed to be what you submitted. Making changes could appear dishonest.
This is a good idea. It’ll be helpful for the AO to see what you can do in 30 minutes as well as to understand what kind of feedback/instruction you get at your current school.
If you put “there” instead of “their”, and you fixed this, I don’t see this as an issue. The school is likely not concerned about the spelling of an in-class assignment because if you did it on a computer, it would have been spell-checked. If you start erasing sentences and putting in new sentences, I think that is an issue. You can always go back to the teacher and ask them if you spelled everything correctly, would the grade have been different? If it would not have been then you can feel confident that updating the spelling is not dishonest.
