Hello! I was accepted ED1 to Tisch for film with a fairly large scholarship. Second trimester grades come out in the beginning of March, but I had a question about my final grades. In four out of five of my classes I have either an A or an A+ (AP Literature is included in this, as well as three electives). In the fifth class, AP Calculus AB, my grade is less than stellar (derivatives on an interval are terrible mathematical creations).
I was wondering what would happen if my second trimester grade for calculus was somewhere in the C+ range. When I sent in my application to NYU, my grade was a B, and that was the only B on my entire high school transcript. I know my acceptance and scholarship is contingent on maintaining an academic level similar to my application academics, so would I lose some of my scholarship money/receive a warning letter if I got a C+ in the class? At this point my goal is a 79.5 for the class, so hopefully that will go well.
Thank you very much!
Hi! My friend had the same problem last year, except she got a large scholarship to Stern instead of Tisch and she applied RD instead of ED. While your sitatution may be very different from hers, ultimately she didn’t lose her scholarship or her acceptance even tho she got around two Cs on her final transcript. If anything, I think you should call the school and ask if your scholarship can be taken away because of one bad grade. I’m sure they wouldn’t be that mean by taking your scholarship away because of one grade, but this is just my opinion. Good luck and I hope everything works out!
I was also accepted to Tisch on a very large scholarship, and my grades were less than stellar to begin with. A C+ in a notoriously difficult class is nothing to sweat over. Tisch is not an Ivy and you’re already in, so just focus on not failing out of high school and you should be fine-- especially since most Tisch scholarships are based on talent, not merit.
