Grades at different schools?

I went to public school for freshman and sophomore year, but I didn’t like it, it was very competitive and cutthroat. Now I go to a smaller church affiliated private school and my grades are much better, GPA probably about a 4.3 UW taking the hardest classes offered. Does it look bad that my grades were worse at my first school, like a 3.5, when that school is known to be harder? I was just so unhappy there… this school has a painting department soooo much better than my first school (that’s what I wrote my essay on), and the people are kinder and I think I did better because I’ve been happier.

Thanks for any thoughts!!! :-*

They will look at the grades from both schools. Two years from your first school, and one year from your current school. They will not just ignore the grades from your first school. That being said, it is always much better to show improvement and hopefully your standardized test scores, recommendations and EC’s will be sufficiently impressive.

My thought is that Yale could be more like your first school.
