Grades slipping a little. Should I be worried?

I’m a senior applying to MIT, Caltech, Stanford, Mudd, Chicago, and CMU (among other schools) as a computer science major. Previously, I’ve only had two Bs in an all honors/AP courseload: one in chemistry (as a sophomore), one in English (as a junior). I predict, however, that I’ll get Bs in AP English and AP Japanese this semester.

Do these really matter that much, since my focus is on STEM? I’m taking multivariable calculus, discrete math, AP Physics C, and two online computer science classes (one from a community college and one from Stanford), all of which I predict As in. Will Bs in humanities/language classes really harm my chances much?

I’m really frustrated with my Japanese class, especially our terrible teacher, but if I work extraordinarily hard, I might be able to get an A… I don’t know if I want to put that much effort into it. AP English is going to be kind of hit or miss since I’m not sure how I can do better on our essay tests.

First of all, B’s does not constitute “grades slipping”, well atleast in my opinion.
With that being said, just do your best to get the best grade possible. That’s all really anyone can ever ask you. From what you have posted, it seems like you are in pretty good shape. Concentrate on your SATs and pay extra attention to your essays.

Well, if you compare them to my past performance, 2 Bs this semester kind of indicates a downward grade trend, however slight… That’s probably not good.

My SATs are fine. I need to stop procrastinating on essays, though. xP
