Grades to aspire to? please read

Hi, I’m a sophomore in high school in one of the top 3 private high schools in my state and I was wondering with my current achievements, what I might aspire to add or improve to be able to get into a school such as NYU.

My current grades for the first term are as follows: (no honors)

 1. American Experience (History): A- (Hope to take AP Euro next year)

American Literature (English): B+ (I think less than a point away from A-, well, my teacher told me I had an A-[I’m going to talk to her after break])(Hope to take IB English
Next Year)

Algebra 2 Trig: B

Spanish 3 : C+ (Just recently got a tutor and will def. improve-- going to drop spanish next year though and take two [one term] history courses)

Chemistry: B+

(6.) I Got A’s in Health and Painting and Hope to take IB Art next year

I took the PSAT in November and the following are my scores:
61
53 (In math)
61
I know my scores will naturally go up as a learn more over the years, but I will also be getting a tutor when it is time to take them for real.

EC’s:
1.Going to play Volleyball until senior year (4 years: 3 years on varsity)
2.Community Service:
-currently applying to be volunteer in hospital
-doing community service trip (over 50+ hours) this summer and possibly the next
3. I am a pretty advanced artist
-done a few classes in some art colleges over the summer
-have a decent portfolio so far (but more of a hobby)
-worked on set designs for school musical
4. Clubs:
-Africa Initiative: Write letters and raise funds for a school in Africa
-Animal Welfare Club
-Green Club: Environmental club
5. Private Vocal Lessons
-will continue until i graduate (started this year)

THANK YOU for reading this and I am def. going to work hard to improve my grades and scores, but what do you recommend I do to increase my chance of getting into NYU come senior year, and what do you think my current chances are?

(I’m interested in their musical theatre major)
