Grades vs GPA?

So, this year I haven’t been doing as well as I normally do, grade-wise. I’m by no means doing badly, but I’m starting to get mostly A-'s and A’s rather than A+'s this semester. These grades haven’t taken a hit on my GPA, as I have plenty of A+'s from previous semesters to cushion my gradual fall, but I do wonder if colleges will care more about my individual grades than my overall GPA. I got a B+ in math last semester, so even though this will hardly impact my GPA, will the black scorch on my transcript reflect poorly upon me? Obviously I know that most colleges won’t reject me just because of one B, but I’m slightly worried that ones on par with the Ivies might. I read a book once that talked about how smart kids are the ones that get 93s and 94s, but the really exceptional students are the ones that get 98s and 100s. Is this true in the eyes of the Ivies?

An A is an A is an A.

There is no consistency among HS grading metrics; some report numerical grades, some report alpha. Some have A+'s, most do not. To worry about dropping from an A+ to an A is a waste of energy.

Every school at that level has rejected 4.0/2400 students each and every year, and has accepted applicants with lower stats. A b+ is not a bad grade, and no school will reject you on that basis alone.

The term “black scorch” is a little dramatic for a B+.
