I am in the second trimester of my sophomore year. If I continue this kind of trend, what kind of colleges can I apply to (All A’s and B’s) These are the most Rigerous courses except for math, as they could be honors. Thank you!
What college you can apply to depends on what you want out of the college and what you can afford.
Is there a certain budget you have to stay in (ie can you only afford instate with scholarship, or is OOS an option even with minimal aid?)
Do you want to live in a city? Rural Areas? Suburbs?
Do you want a small school or a large school (student body wise/ student to professor ratio wise)
Would you like to be in a school that is very research heavy?
Any specific field you may want to focus on (it’s okay if you don’t know your major yet! But do you have a general idea of what you may want to pursue…)
These are all things that can help you narrow down where to apply! Maybe answer some of these questions so we can better help with recommending where you can apply
Minimal budget. I would really love to become a doctor, neurosurgeon specifically. I live just outside of Detroit Michigan. I would love a big or small school, though sizes around UMICH are appealing to me. I love to research. Say I got all A’s in the rest of my classes and wanted to apply to UMICH, how much would these 3B+ and 2B’s hurt me?
I haven’t finished the trimester yet, but I am in Spanish 2 A, APUSH B, Honors chem A, writing for publication, and Algebra 2B right now and have all A’s.
Up in the sophomore classes in the original pot should be Psychology A: A
Unfortunately I don’t have any knowledge about UMICH since I didn’t apply to that school. What I would recommend is looking on their website and seeing the range of accepted students GPAs as well as SATs. Also keep in mind that GPA and test scores are only one part of your application. Colleges also look at extra curriculars, Letters of recommendation, etc.
Also I know you mentioned Neurosurgeon/ Doctor. A vast majority of schools offer a pre-med path, but you may also want to look in schools that offer Neuroscience as a major and see if that is something you want to pursue as well.
