I recently transferred to the US from an international school with a far more arbitrary grading system - where a 94 and above was an A - and a harsh curve. My current counselor had to combine some of my grades and ended up lowering some of my scores because of the degree of difficulty they entailed and the misinterpretation of the grading scales. In my old school, your grade was determined by an end of the year exam, and a B, let alone an A, was hard to receive. My counselor has weighted my classes as AP and honors classes, provided I take the exams. Now, I received straight A’s (with the exception of one B+) in 11th grade, but I received my fair share of B’s in 9th and 10th grade.
What I want to know is, will the grading system used in 9th and 10th grade, with which I was salutatorian, serve as a hindrance to me in my wish to get into an Ivy league school?
