Does each professor determine the exact grading scale (what constitutes an A, A-, etc.)? If so, are there many where an A is more lenient, like a 92-100?

Yeah, most often each dept sets grade lines. I’ve had some classes where a 95 was an A/A- cut-off (public speaking). Organic Chemistry (difficult course) has a grade cut off at 77 for A/A- since the class average is always low on the exams.

^Thanks. These questions are a bit off topic but:
- I’m planning on switching my enrollment to Summer from Fall. Is it feasible to take 3 classes in the summer (I was thinking French 2, Writing, and one of the other general requirement classes)?
- On the housing website ([Housing: Room and Board Rates: Fall 2010/ Spring 2011](<a href=“Home Page | LiveOn”>Home Page | LiveOn)), it shows standard rooms and then Watts Hall rooms that cost a bit more. Are the Watts Hall rooms bigger, nicer, or both? By how much?

West Halls are nice and have a good location, however the chances of you being assigned there as a freshman are very small. You will most likely be placed in East, Pollock or South, but not the ‘nice dorms’ in South–Simmons, Atherton (unless you get into Honors). I’d look more at ‘do you want East’ or ‘do NOT want East’ . Do a search here on housing–lots of info
