Grading

I heard McGill shows class average (of each course you took) on the official transcript (the one to be sent to Graduate school). Does this mean Graduate school will be able to see my grade AND class average? I dont like the idea of putting up the class average…!!

can any mcgill student tell me if they record class average on official transcript or just my GPA?

They sometimes do have a class average when available yes.

Given the grade deflation at McGill, this procedure will actually be very helpful for your grad school admissions efforts.

Last night, I read on the website that as of 2002, only letter grades appear on the transcript. If that is true, and a grade of 65 = B-, then I think the grade deflation will, as momfromme indicated, works in the student’s favor. From this, I assume that a numerical GPA is not indicated. In other words, a B- is a helluva lot better than a 65 or a 2.7 GPA. Is this a correct assumption??

Woody, that grading system is for those enrolled in the Centre for Continuing Education. It may be different for undergrads(?)

A B- still gives you a 2.7 GPA (and the GPA is still listed, as far as I know).
