<p>Would anyone happen to know the Avg. GPA/GRE scores of students accepted to the chemistry dept at Berekeley? Or even the Avg. of all Berekeleys graduate courses? I’d like to get an overall sense what whats required to get in. Thanks!</p>

The admissions committee generally looks at your GPA in conjunction with the school you went to. So getting a 3.5 in a really grade stingy school will be as valued as a 4.0 at an easier school.</p>
<p>good GPA and GRE will not get you into a good program, but bad GPA/GRE will certainly remove you from consideration. If this is what you are worried about, maybe you should think of applying elsewhere. I guarantee that many applicants will have a 4.0, 800 math, 5.0+ writing. This won’t get them into the program -what really counts are good letters of recommendation.</p>
