Graduate Program in Robotics (1 year) or PHD in Robotics?

Hello,

I would like to get some advices from you on the choice between a Graduate Program in Robotics (1 year - equivalent to a Master of engineering) or PHD in Robotics.

In fact, I have an industrial engineering (robotics and automation oriented) degree and completed a one year specialization master in Mechatronics, in France.
I’d like to delve deeper into robotics to be able to design, integrate electronics, compute the kinematic & dinamics model of robots, integrate computer vision and so on.
For now, my goal is not to become a professor teaching robotics or related fields at university, but to basically become an expert at robotics engineer position in companies… That’s why I consider joining an university in US for either a PHD or a Master of Engineering.
My concern is whether a master’s degree would be enough to give me all the practical experience I need, and whether a PhD would be too research- and writing-oriented.

I look forward your insights and advices.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
