Graduate school at the Air Force Institute of Technology

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anybody has information about what grad school is like at AFIT? I have had a hard time actually gaining information as their website doesn’t have very specific information that would be necessary for weighing my grad school options.

For a little context, im currently about to graduate with a BE in Electrical Engineering and have about a B- average. I’m hoping to apply to the civilian PhD program in Electrical Engineering there. I am an experienced researcher as I’ve done research for more than 2.5 years in my field and my PI is a fairly well known and respected researcher in his field. I also have 3.5 years of work experience in EE and nanoscience labs and am well versed in plenty of methods/machinery important to EE nanoscience research.

I’ve always had my heart set on this school and I will be taking the GRE in about 2 months. I realize my GPA is on the low side but AFIT has waivers for requirements, I’m hoping my extensive work/research experience proves my competency. If anybody knows more than what the website provides or better yet knows of someone attending the institution it would be a great help.

Thank you!

AFIT exists to educate active duty military, DOD civilians, and a few spots going to DOD contractors. If you are eligible for AFIT, there should be people at your job who can give you advice.
