Graduate School

I currently attend a CUNY school and am in their honors program, (not MHC). I have an overall GPA of 3.6 and am double majoring with a minor. I am also involved in various organizations and have experience in my intended grad program. My top pick for graduate school is Columbia, however given I attend a public university that does not have the greatest reputation do I stand a chance of being admitted?

There is a whole forum devoted to grad school issues. Click on “Discussion Home” in the upper left of this screen, and scroll down to find it.

Grad school admission is based in large part on GPA, Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation, GRE scores, and work/research/publications in your area of interest. People get into amazing grad schools every year from colleges and universities that you have never heard of. Don’t worry about coming from a CUNY.

Good luck!

If you are an outstanding student in all aspects except for that you came from CUNY, you shouldn’t have a problem. I’ve heard of people from Tier 3 schools that have gone on to Ivy or Ivy quality schools for Grad.

isn’t this the grad school forum, happymom?
