Im currently a sophmore in highschool and I am thinking about graduating one year early. I was wondering if this will decrease my chances of getting into an ivy league school?

graduating early is not normally a good thing unless there are unique reasons for it.

I emailed my regional admissions director about graduating early during the first semester of my junior year in 2004. He told me that Yale would definitely consider my application but that he didn’t suggest I graduate early because of the intellectual and emotional maturity that is gained during senior year. At the time I thought he was being a little dramatic, but now - a year and a half later - I realize he was very right.

Since second semester junior year:
*My ACT score went up four points.
*I’ve taken seven more honors courses.
*I’ve taken on huge leadership roles in my ECs.

I just know that even now I’m very apprehensive about the transition to college. I’m glad that I didn’t do it sooner - I would have missed out on a lot of fun and important experiences. More importantly, I wouldn’t have been deferred in EASC round, I probably would have been rejected.

Good luck on making your decision.

I don’t think it’s a good idea either. It will definitely shows your lack of interest about staying in school but rather get it over with…sure it’ll show that you’re smart and all but again…that’s not everything

yale doesn’t like that.
