Graduating in the summer

I am currently a junior at Auburn University majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering and minoring in Supply Chain Management. After co-oping with Rheem Water Heating, I am scheduled to graduate in August 2017 but I am wondering how the job market is for engineers graduating in the summer. Will I be less likely to get a job? Should I drop my minor and just graduate in May of 2017 instead? Please help! I am an African American female that will have around a 2.8 GPA when I graduate.

Do you anticipate that Rheem will make an offer of permanent employment and hire you beginning August 2017? Like in other professions, engineering firms can make job offers early.

Oh, upon re-reading your post, it seems that you said your Rheem co-op ENDS in the summer of 2017. Is that right? You many not really have a problem at all.

My Rheem co-op will end Dec. 2016 but I’ll have a few classes left. I hope that Rheem does offer, but I also would like to have other options.

I think you find the job in fall, so summer graduation is not bad.
