Graduation Gifts Ideas

For two high school graduates. One is a sport loving boy who is also brainy. And one for a girl who loves dance and music. Any creative ideas will be appreciated!

If both are going away to college, my kids enjoyed having small tool kits.

If you don’t want to do $$$ (the best grad gift IMO), how about iTunes cards (for either). I personally avoid giving gifts that are too personal - not up to me to decide what kind of sports jersey, etc someone would like. What’s your budget???

500$ for each

The book Making College Count is a great college success book that makes a fantastic high school graduation gift.

How generous!!! In that case, if you really want to buy a small token ($50 iTunes card, tickets for 2 to a sports event) and then write a check for the remaining amount.

ipad minis, tickets and travel to World Series with Dad and tickets & travel for an amazing dance/music performance in NYC with Mom.

I’d give them an Amazon gift card. That way, they can order the fun stuff they want, as well as pay for a few of their textbooks.

College kids have moved on to music streaming like Spotify. My D can’t remember the last time she bought anything from itunes.

Second the Amazon gift card, especially if they don’t have easy access to shops or have a car.

Third the Amazon gift card.

My kids also love Amazon gift cards as they can buy just about anything with them!

My sports loving son would love any kind of sporting event tickets, team shirts, etc. We just got him this snuggy that looks like a uniform from his favorite baseball team and he LOVES it- wears it in the common room of his dorm suite during games: http://www.amazon.com/Angeles-Dodgers-Snuggie-Blanket-Player/dp/B00ALLB47G</a>. It is available for different sports and teams. He also received a hanging travel kit from Lands End for graduation: http://www.landsend.com/products/medium-squall-deluxe-hanging-travel-kit/id_263635?sku_0=::43B</a>. He travels with a team and says it is really easy to throw his shower/shaving stuff in for travel.

Our singer/dancer daughter would love any kind of tickets to theater events, certificate for a dance master class, gift card to LuLu Lemon (although $25 there may only buy one sock), gift card to any dance store, etc.

If you know where they are going, many college towns and college bookstores have gift cards – you can give them money to spend at their new destination!

I just bought my niece a Barnes and Noble gift card for graduation because her college bookstore is run by Barnes and Noble(a lot of them are). Also got her a monogrammed canvas laundry bag and the person on Etsy was able to incorporate all 4 of her school colors in it. Also a nice canvas and mesh shower caddy.

If they don’t already own a pair I think some really nice headphones are a great gift.

Beats are popular; Frends are gorgeous for girls; Bose are awesome and a bit more expensive but a good pick for a serious student or audiophile (esp. good noise-cancellation feature).

I am thinking to buy them mutual funds accounts and they hopefully will learn to invest and save. What do you guys think?

cluelessly,Probably depends on the kid. One of my kids got a $200 savings bond from his Uncle. He was appreciative but I don’t think it was one of his favorite gits. He did like an engraved Jefferson cup for his school and an engraved compass from Scotland . And gift cards, cash , of course.

If you are wanting to give them a gift, remember that they are high school graduates. They are going off to college. Mutual funds are a very nice gift, but I would strongly suggest you get them a high school type gift with part of the money, and maybe the mutual funds with the rest. How about $300 amazon gift card which they can use for books, or almost anything else imaginable, and the $200 invested in mutual funds.

Always give the anti-power surge multi-plug extension cord. NEVER enough plugs in a dorm room. Have also gotten white towels embroidered in school colors with the kid’s initials.
