On the recent grammar “pet peeves” threads, several posters identified the use of “try and” as one of their pet peeves. Since one of my pet peeves is the claim that “try and” is incorrect, I thought I’d provide a link to a new Slate podcast episode that mounts a rousing defense of the phrase, with historical evidence going back to the 16th century.
