The African fly does not need a brain, [for] everything it has to do is programmed into its nervous system. </p>

<p>Well it doesn’t necessarily mean that it only has one meaning. In the first sentence it clearly stands for because. The sentence states that flies don’t need brain, and then explains why ( because it is programmed…blah…)</p>
