Loved the whole Grammy show. Adele is one of my favorites, but I hope the radios don’t over play her songs now. She was my little secret a few years ago after I heard her on one of the late night shows. So glad her voice healed … I think it sounded more clean than before.

Nicki Minaj … Yuk.

Bruno Mars … love him, love love the retro moves.

Jennifer Hudson … such a great performance, especially given that it was so close to the heart for her. I was chocked up while she sang Whitney Houston’s song.

Taylor Swift … she’s growing on me. I like that little mean song. I thought her shock had to do partly with the fact that she was so surprised to get treated so respectfully after she was ripped apart from a previous Grammy or awards show where she sang not so well with I think Bonnie R.

Loved the show … nice job producers and LL.

I am glad I am not the only one that thinks Chris Martin cannot sing. I thought it was painful to listen to him! IMO, Taylor Swift has always been a great songwriter. I think her singing has gotten a lot better. I liked her last night. Both my D and I can relate to her lyrics.

Did not care for Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, or Rihanna. I feel like I cannot get to the singing amidst the noise, sensationalism, and over-production.

Bruno Mars killed it. He had the right balance of singing, instrumentation, and performance. His talent is crazy and he seems to enjoy himself. What a warm smile.

Adele is amazing. So happy for her recovery! I thought LL was great too. And Jennifer Hudson. I really loved the show. They should start it 30 minutes earlier, though. It was late for us, even in the central time zone.

Taylor Swift was lip syncing. Notice the oversized mic in front of her mouth - how the song sounded just like the studio version except for the tweaking about the Grammy’s? Her people made sure she would not be ridiculed this time.

I saw Adele on SNL too and then found her “Pavement” video - great video. I am a big Amy Winehouse fan and Adele reminded me a lot of her - not as much in her new album.

I will now take credit for Adele’s success. Wish she were a stock I picked. I though she sounded a little off last night. Nerves or the operation? Hope nerves.

Sorry, Barrons, but she was old news in 2011.

I thought her voice sounded better last night than it sounds on her album. I didn’t detect the “scratchiness” and “gravel” that I had previously. I hope she is developing a healthier technique and knows when to rest her voice or she’ll be in trouble again.

Hardly anyone had heard of her yet. Nobody in my office whatsoever and most are in that 24-40 demographic she appeals to. I thought she was just Amy Winehouse.

I guess a lot of “our age” folks had not heard of her. I actually introduced her to my 20 something daughter in 2008 - another Amy Winehouse fan. She had been on SNL and Jimmy Kimmel and the “Pavements” video won an MTV award in 2008. Jimmy Kimmel is a great source of new music. He has people on before lots of other venues.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. used Rolling in the Deep for their Stanley Cup intro montage last spring. Got me hooked! I love women singers who can belt it.

I also thought it was a wonderful Grammys, and fun to watch with my 16yo DS. I think the most moving highlight for me was the Glen Campbell tribute, because of his Alzheimer’s diagnosis and his courage in bringing it public. I was never a fan, but found “Gentle On My Mind” to be a beautiful song that seems very difficult to sing well, which that band did. Isn’t this a lovely and bittersweet chorus?

“you’re moving on the backroads by the rivers of my memory
And for hours you’re just gentle on my mind”

My son appreciated seeing deadmou5 and the other outside bands, but I found him and that mask to be fairly disturbing. Oh, well, not a hip parent, I guess. I did like the energy outside; it was a nice change from the inside acts.

Bruno Mars, what a fantastic performer, and so cute! I would go to see him in concert, which takes a lot nowadays. Adele is just amazing.

It sounds like it was a great show. I am sorry that I missed it! I did see a clip online of Jennifer Hudson singing I Will Always Love You (wonderful) and one of Bonnie Raitt and Alicia Keys’ duet (really great).

I’m feeling badly because my oldest daughter who is in CA had asked me to record The Grammys so she could watch it at another time and I was unable to do so. Did anyone here record it? I’d be happy to pay to have a copy burned to DVD and to have it mailed.

Funny that many have not heard of Adele. My younger daughter who is a performer and a singer/songwriter herself, has been into Adele for a LONG time. She loves her. Glad more are finally finding out about her it seems (based on this thread).

Upthread some say that they had never heard of Bon Iver. I’ll admit, neither had I until fairly recently. I only know the name because my daughter was selected to be on a particular list that Bon Iver (and some other greats) were also on (I don’t wish to be more specific) and she is an entirely unknown but she was shocked (as am I) to be listed with such people (though I admit I had not heard of Bon Iver until then but she had…though I have heard of several of the national acts that appeared on said list).
